What a weird fish!

Have you ever seen this fish?

How long do you think the longest fish can reach up to? 5m? 10m? no, actually it can reach up to 17m, longer than the long of single Badminton court.... and its weight can reach up to 275kg
Oarfish is believe to be the longest fish that still exist today.... is found in all world’s ocean of depth between 20m to 1000m (1km in depth).

The first time i saw the photo of this fish was (if I’m not mistaken), 10 years ago where it was stated that, the fish was weird due to its size and believe the only one that still exist.
This is the picture that I saw 10 years ago.

But I was surprised to find out, this fish still exist today especially in Mexican ocean and Australian ocean. Few of the death body of this fish found washed up on beach.
The fish rarely seen on the surface of water unless the fish is sick or dying and always said to be sea serpent when seen. Oar fish is not dangerous to human and its fillet is not healthy to be consume.

However few years ago one woman accidently catched this fish while fishing for Cod fish and she cut the fish into pieces and put it in her freezer. It was weird the fish interested to the woman bait which was squid. Scientist feel frust on the woman action since the Oarfish she catched could be a good sample(due to its freshness) to understand further the behaviour of this Oarfish as well as the physical of this rare fish.

and another case was, the Oarfish was killed as it was thinked to attack the visitor in one shallow island. Read more about it at http://lencole.home.sprynet.com/oarfish.htm )

The behaviour of Oarfish is so weird, which finally caused them to be killed or dead by their own action.

Special about this fish
  • Its size(can reach up to 17m)
  • Moves vertically in the water (common fish move horizontally)
  • When feed on plankton, its body is in vertical position.
  • This fish has no teeth! And feed on plankton exclusively.
  • Has bright red ribbon on his head.

Here are some photos scene about Oar fish, the action of this Oarfish finally brought her life to the end.

This is our beach!

This is what we call beach?

Recently, i went to some beaches in one day. Hmm... the first beach i went to was Hutan simpanan Berakas beach The Place was very peaceful and i enjoyed all the background sounds of waves as well as sound of birds singing welcoming visitors to the Peaceful countryside beach. It was sunny and I arrived there in the mid day. (hmm.. sound little bit boring ah..)

After 30 minutes, I drove to another beach, located at Serasa, of course you can guess, which beach I went to. When arriving there,I asked myself either I went to a beach or to a place to dump a rubbish. I captured few photos along the beach...
(click the picture to view in details)
Wow is this a place that we can call as a beach? A place that floating bottles, napkins, plastic bags, logs errr..too much to mention, floating along the Serasa beach. But what I noticed, it was logs that floating and washed to the beach at most. Where did the logs come from? It must be from somewhere.

If the logs came from dead trees along the beach, it was sign, a sign of destructive activity happened at the beach. It could be destructive waves hitting the beach and washed away the trees slowly or uncontrolled or illegal activity was done there...

But when we examined the logs, do you think it came from that area nearby? Or maybe it was just a floating rubbish that washed towards the beach.

What ever the reasons, i hope one day, I can see a clean and peaceful place that can be call as a beach....so all of us have to do something about it, just do a smart an simple way, you don’t have to left anythings behind but your footprint. If you manage to do it, you just change the world!congratulation.

Cyclone in Burma

Tropical Cyclone Nargis pummeled Yangon for more than 10 hours from Friday night into Saturday, with 20 inches of rain and winds above 240 k/hr.

While I was playing game on my laptop on Friday night, people in Myanmmar were in frighten due to Cyclone that hitted the country. The tropical Nargis pummeled Yangon-city of Myanmmar for more than 10 hours starting Friday nigh into Saturday with 20 inchies of rain and winds above 240km/hr.
Wind speed reached 240km/hr. Do you know what that number means? It was a very energetic cyclone. Just imagine if someone hitted by a car at a speed of 100km/hr , that person will have very low chance to survive, can you imagine if a car driven in 240km/hr hit a person? Maybe no chance to survive anymore.
When the winds moved in 240km/hr, even unsharped pencil can even kill us!. So imagine how low the chance for people in Myanmmar to survive that night. But from the news I read, it was not the cyclone itself killed most of the people at the night, it was the effect brought by the cyclone killed most of the people. The tidal wave formed by the cyclone reached up to 12 feets and swept everthing away.

As you can see on the picture, Borneo Bulletin said on Monday only 350 people were killed in the accident. But today’s BB said the death toll reached 10,000 but the number keep on rising and currently the death toll already reached 15,000 and keep rising
.
(one news agency said the death toll already reached 50,000 people!)

Satellite image before and after the cyclone hitted Burma. Very destructive.

Broadband

Hmm, as per requested by my friends who also supporter to my blog, today’s blog is about the new service offers by DST which is known as GO!broadband....

Firstly, lets me introduce the history of telecommunication in small details. The first telecommunication technology that firstly invented and used was made in United State in the year 1837 by Samuel F. B. Morse. It was known as Morse telegraph

Definition of Telegraph- long distance communication through wires.
Definition of Morse – signaling of dots and dashes.

Meaning to say the first technology that lets people in 2 places to communicate was using wires which transmitted signal that have to use wire in the transmitting data proccess. The telegraph machine woud print dots and dash on the moving tape paper.(use google to find more information about it).

There after, more and more telecommunication technology invented including, UHF, VHF, GSM, GPRS and including this new technology BROADBAND.

Broadband is a service that can be used to transmit data(lots of data) in high speed without using wires. Actually broadband is a wireless service. The only different of wireless in your house/shop/office compare to broadband is that, the area covered. Broadband can transmit data in large area whereas the wireless(which familiarly known as wifi, hotspot) can transmit data in small area only.

Maybe you think Bmobile is the first service provider who offered broadband service to Brunei user, this is not true since before the launching of BMobile Broadband which is popular with the name of ZOOM!broadband, Telbru take the first action to provide this broadband service to Brunei user which known as WAVE. But their large advertisment that can be seen especially in Gadong and Kiulap area doesn’t really captured our attention. This is due to our lack knowledege of broadband. Furthermore, it is quite expensive.... If I am not mistaken , the $5.00 prepaid card will finish in just about 70mins! That is too expensive right? And the main reason why it is not so popular is due to limited area covered. The Broadbands introduce by Telbru- WAVE only available in certain area. The ‘certain area’ covered are only in busy area such as Gadong, Kiarong, Kiulap as well as Serusop. So we only can access to the broadband if we bring along our laptop to this area, remember it is not free, so we need to purchase card first before we can use this broadband service to access the internet. Why we need this WAVE broadband service if we still can go to other place such as mamih or Kern Cafe which provide totally free of charge internet access.....

Then in last March, Bmobile starts to launch their broadband service. The ZOOM! Broadband launched in the Mall, attracted a lots of people who were interested to have this broadband service. Unfortunately, this broadband service only available if you subscribe to them in the minimum time of 2 years where you need to bought the dell laptop (they said, the laptop is free, which is not). So people like me who only need the Broadband USB so that we can access the internet through broadband only wasted our time coming there.

The ZOOM!broadband introduced 2 months ago frighten espeed provider. At the same time or later after the launching of ZOOM!broadband, espeed monthly charges was revised. One espeed plan which was BND98.00 at first now reduced to BND68.00 per month. Which can be said as cheap but actually not when comparing to the ISP(internet service provider) in our neighbour country.

So people starts to make comparision either to subscribe to Zoom!Broadband or espeed. But unfortunately both service provider is not as good as their advertisment, one service charged $0.50 per MB after free usage, the other provider has a lots of complaint about their service.

For your information, Bmobile state on their advertisment that after free 2GB data(bnd45.00 plan per month), a charge of $0.50 per MB will be charge up to maximum charge of BND40 for unlimited usage (the cheapest plan for the unlimited cost BND85.00(BND45 +BND40 =BND85.00) . Customer who didn’t understand or didn’t read the T&C will be suprised to check their bill which can reach up to BND85.00 one month alone)

Then on 1st Mei 2008, DST introduced their own broadband service which is known as GO!Broadband. The thing I hate about DSTD is that, DST took very very long time to introduce new service to customer. For your information , DST already planned to have 3G service in June 2006! But they delayed it because they want to introduce 3.5G directly and planned to introduce it again in December 2006. But ir was delay again. And only May of this year (after 2 years delay from first planned date) their plan success.

But I can forgive it for their good service provider. As long as they can provide a better service, why can’t we wait....

Wah my blog already long, actually I want to write little only... hmmm
Ok I continue again to finish this special edition for Zal and Nina... jgn kmvang because Isaid your name. hehe

After few weeks advertising about their upcoming product, on 1st May 2008, DST launching their GO!Broadband and customer can starts to subscribe to their 3.5G broadband service starting 2nd Mei 2008 which was last Friday. I can’t wait to subscribe to this 3.5G and on the 1st day that customer can start to subscribe to the GO!Broadband I went to the DST-Giant Branhc because this is the only DST Branch which open until night time.... after waiting for MORE THAN 3 hours to be served, my old simcards was taken and replaced by the new simcard which can be used to connect to the 3.5G.

Yea I waited for more than 3 hours because I want to be among th first to have 3.5G DST internet service. It was very slow proccess in that DST Branch due to insufficient staff (only 2 cusotmer services can work at one time due to limited space) but the staff who were working at that night shift still can put smile on their face although they could see hundred more waiting to be served.... congrate for that.

Actually the staff there asked me to use my sim card only after 24 hours but I couldnt wait for that long. After 8 hours given a new free of charge simcard, i switched on my phone and topup through *107# . then I try to use my phone to browse the internet. WOW it’ working.... I can see 3.5G text appears on the network signal. And then I try to broadcast youtube through my phone ( http://m.youtube.com/). Wow the speed is so amazing, I can watch the video in youtube without having to wait like when using laptop using espeed. The video run smoothly. And believe it, DST still charge 5cents per MB. It is quite cheap. (Bmobile charges $0.20 per MB). That why I still prefer DST compare to BMOBILE altough sometimes I hate it too....

(actually DST also has broadband plan more or less the same as what Bmobile offered, but I cannot cover it in thiss blog.....tired.)

Halal or not?

Halal or Non Halal?

I remembered it was a day where I threw one packet of seasoned frozen chicken directly to the dustbin in my house. I did it, not because the freezer in my house already full or i didn’t need it anymore. Don’t waste your foods, a lot of peple at this time are suffering from insufficient of foods as well as feed on unhealthy/ unnutrients foods only. (I’m not talking about hundred of people but million!),so whenever you want to eat outside, remember, just order foods that you can finish it. Remember the foods you wasted can actually make one life to survive! One life remember or maybe more.

Back to the actual things i want to talk about, Yea i read one email saying that, that frozen foods is no longer considered as halal. When I read articles, I’m not easily to make conclusion about it,I will check it through other source to verify the story is correct. But I can’t believe, it was true, that frozen foods brand is no longer considered as halal, the product that I mean is “AYAM DINDINGS”. Sometimes we just ignored this type of email, but I can’t imagine that story is true based on an article published in a newspaper one time ago.

Do you know this ayam dindings brand? .If not, better have a look at the picture that i took in Kiulap HUA HO last February. Remember that brand is no longer said to be halal. Meaning to say, It’s haram or prohibited to eat them. As a REAL muslim, you shouldn’t eat foods that cannot be verified its halalness. But this products are available in Brunei!

I totally feel guilty because a night before i read that email, I ate this frozen foods brand and questions starts to full my brain.

How comes this product are still available in BRUNEI?
Why this products are still be considered as halal in Brunei?
Where are the people who should take action about this?
I totally fell unfair, we must do something about this.

For your information, ayam dindings are Malaysian Products and they have their own slaughter house.Chickens meat that comes from their slaughter house are also use in making sausage, nugget and many other frozen chicken based products. From the research i did, i found out that, this products are still available in most shops in Brunei including large market such as Hua Ho, Utama Grand as well as jaya Hypermart.

I blog this not because I want to complaint but I need a true statment that can verified the status of AYAM DINDINGS products in Brunei. Since after reading that e-mail, I never bought that ayam dindings products and I warned my family as well as my friends not to buy that products. But I am very sorry, I can’t tell everybody in Brunei to stop buying that products, I fell guilty because that products has unknown halal status but the muslims in Brunei still buying that products Why Bruneiab still buying that ayam dindings product?because

--> Ayam dindings products are available in almost all markets in Brunei

--> They (Customers) who never read/just ignored the email forwarded to them
-->Bruneian only dependent to the Brunei’ Ministry of Islamic affair (as long as no statment endorse by the Ministry, so we still consider that peoduct as halal.). {but, this is right actually}
--> Ayam dindings products are sell in cheapest price compare to the same products that produce by other company. Who want to buy other products, if ayam dindings products are cheap and more delicious compare to others?

But i am no longer buying ayam dindings products because i still unsure about its halalness status. So please, anybody out there can help me....

Remember, I blog this not because i want to endorse the non halalness of Ayam Dindings products but because I need a statement that can fade my awareness about the halal status of Ayam dindings products in Brunei. (although i can see a halal logo was stick on the plastic bag of ayam dindings but I stil need a statment about its halaness)

By the way, newspaper published that story in January 2006. So based on time frames can we consider that ayam dindings products are halal?
here is the article published

"AYAM DINDINGS JUAL BANGKAI KEPADA UMAT ISLAM....
Edisi Nasional METRO:
Ayam haramOleh Mohd Jamilul Anbia Md Denin
KUALA LUMPUR : Jabatan Kemajuan
Islam Malaysia (Jakim) menarik balik sijil pengesahan halal yang diberikan
kepada syarikat Dindings Poultry Processing Sdn Bhd berikutan proses
penyembelihan ayam di kilangnya meragukan. Difahamkan antara kesalahan dikesan
Jakim iaitu sesetengah ayam disembelih dua kali selepas penyembelihan pertama
Processing Sdn Bhd ditarik balik sehingga diberitahu kelak.
Pengarah Bahagian
Kajian Makanan dan Barangan Gunaan Islam Jakim, Che Hassan Fahmi Che Mamat yang
dihubungi Harian Metro, petang semalam, mengesahkan mengenai tindakan Jakim
itu.
Menurutnya, setiap pemegang sijil halal bertanggungjawab ke atas
sebarang penyalahgunaan syarat ditetapkan Jakim.
lalu.
Katanya, pemeriksaan mendapati terdapat beberapa kesalahan membabitkan
proses penyembelihan yang meragukan.
Menurutnya, kesalahan ketara adalah
sesetengah ayam disembelih dua kali disebabkan penyembelihan pertama tidak
sempurna.
diwajibkan mengikut syarak, katanya.
Justeru, penguat kuasa Jakim segera
Malah, kami turut menemui
beragama Islam, katanya.
Menurutnya, siasatan lanjut mendapati terlalu banyak
Ehwal Pengguna (KPDNHEP) setiap negeri.
Pusat beli-belah terkemuka, pasar
Mereka mendapati masih terdapat
beberapa premis yang menjual produk berasaskan ayam keluaran syarikat
terbabit.
Koordinator Projek Persatuan Pengguna Islam Malaysia (PPIM), Noor
Nirwandy Mat Noordin, berkata tindakan diambil selepas pihaknya menerima
pengumuman rasmi melalui laman web Jakim pagi semalam.
Menurutnya, kebanyakan
mempunyai logo halal Jakim masih dijual.
sijil halal Jakim. "
